Sheep Cheese
Delamere Dairy’s Sheep Cheese is mild and fresh tasting with a slightly sweet character. Similar to a cheddar cheese in texture, it is matured for around three month and hand-packed in 150g wedges. It can be served simply on its own on a cheeseboard, or as you would use any hard cheese, in sandwiches or in baking.
All Delamere Dairy products are made with pasteurised milk.
Our Sheep Cheese Products
50% more protein!
Sheep milk, from which sheep cheese is made, contains almost 50% more protein than cows’ or goats’ milk; and a protein-rich diet can help increase feelings of fullness, thereby reducing appetite and decreasing calorie intake. Protein is an essential building block to cell growth and regeneration, it is needed to keep blood circulating, skin regenerating, muscles repairing and bones strong.
While sheep milk is higher in total fat than cows’ milk, it is lower in saturated fat and richer in vitamins A, B and E, calcium, phosphorus, potassium, and magnesium.
High source of vitamin D
Sheep milk is also a high source of vitamin D and with 1 in 5 adults and 1 in 6 children in England having low levels of vitamin D, Delamere Dairy’s sheep yogurt is a great addition to the family diet. Vitamin D is also required for calcium absorption in the body, so the high levels of both of these essential vitamins and minerals in sheep milk products make sheep yogurt a more natural choice than taking dietary supplements.
While sheep milk is higher in total fat than cows’ milk, it is lower in saturated fat and richer in vitamins A, B and E, calcium, phosphorus, potassium, and magnesium.
Easy to Digest
Like goats’ milk, sheep milk is also easier to digest than cows’ milk as the fat globules in sheep milk are smaller than in cows’, so the human digestive enzymes can complete their breakdown much more rapidly. The proteins also form a softer curd in the stomach which helps digestion.
